Steve Cortes, president of the League of American Workers, said Vice President Kamala Harris' "open border policies are a huge turn off to Catholic and Hispanic voters."

"Kamala Harris’s open border policies are a huge turn off to Catholic and Hispanic voters," Cortes said in a post on X. "Kamala’s lawless border has brought massive economic harm, jeopardized our national security, and cost the lives of countless Americans."

On August 12, 2023, an 11-year-old girl was raped, beaten, and murdered by an 18-year-old illegal immigrant, Juan Garcia-Rodriguez. Her body was found by her father in a trash bag, inside of a hamper, under her bed, Cortes wrote in a post on Real Clear Religion.

Garcia-Rodriguez entered the country illegally under President Joe Biden’s administration while Vice President Kamala Harris was in charge of the border. The Guatemalan national surrendered to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in El Paso in January of 2024. Border Patrol agents later released him to his immigration sponsors in Louisiana.

Hispanic Voters are commonly Catholic, Cortes wrote, and are turning to President Donald Trump and his Vice President pick U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), who is also Catholic, as a recent poll from American Greatness shows Catholic voters favoring Trump over Harris 54% to 37%, a 17% margin.

Catholic Vote President Brian Burch also noted this fact, as Cortes noted in his article, remarking that while American Catholics are extremely generous and welcoming, they are also not tolerant of the disorder and harm stemming from the immigration crisis.

Harris leads Trump 47% to 46% in a two-way race, with 7% of voters undecided, according to another recent poll from American Greatness. Harris is ahead of Trump 42% to 41% in a five-way race in which Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (I) is at 8%, Jill Stein (G) is at 2%, and Chase Oliver (L) is at 1%.

On inflation, 64% of voters say Harris bears a “great deal” or “some” of the blame for the rise in grocery prices since 2021, and 51% of voters said they were better off financially under Trump.

Only 8% of voters in the survey said Harris’ performance on the border was “very strong,” with 47% saying her performance has been “very weak.”

Harris’ support for reparations for Black Americans is supported by only 27% of voters in these states, with 60% opposing her stance.
