Many homeowners in fire-prone areas, including Arizona, have been facing challenges with their insurance coverage. Following Southern California's wildfires earlier this year, there have been significant rate increases and cancellations of policies. This situation has left many worried about protecting their homes or qualifying for new home loans.
Senator Finchem is urging affected homeowners to testify at an upcoming Senate Committee hearing. "I am urging those who have been impacted by the fire insurance crisis to come to the Senate and make their voices heard as part of our ongoing efforts to evaluate potential legislative solutions to safeguard homeowners and hold government agencies and NGOs for their unreasonable practices," said Chairman Finchem.
The senator emphasized that many constituents have had their insurance cancelled or denied due to residing in wildfire-risk areas. "I've heard from too many constituents who have had their insurance cancelled or denied simply because they live in an area at risk of wildfires. These hardworking families, who have done everything right, are being left unprotected, especially in Arizona's rural communities," he added.
Finchem believes that personal stories can drive necessary changes to ensure accessible and affordable insurance for all Arizonans. "Your stories are powerful, and they will help drive the change we need to protect our communities and ensure that insurance is accessible and affordable for all Arizonans who need it."
