About 57% of voters disapprove of President Joe Biden’s work in his first year of office, while 41% approve of the job he's done, according to a January poll by McLaughlin & Associates.
Additionally, likely voters believe the economy was getting worse.
As of January, 62% of Americans who responded believe the economy is getting worse, while only 30% say it is getting better. At the beginning of the Biden Administration, however, the general opinion of the U.S. economy was split more proportionally with 52% of Americans believing the state of the economy was worsening and 42% saying it was improving.
The favorability rating for Vice President Kamala Harris stood at 56%, while 39% viewed her unfavorably. Views on Nancy Pelosi were similar: 61% viewed her unfavorably, and 33% viewed her favorably.
When asked in the poll how they felt about making former-President Donald Trump’s tax cuts permanent, 61% approved while 26% disapproved. Of those numbers, in the West region, 55% approved, while 32% disapproved.
In the 2020 election, Arizona voted for the ticket of Biden and Harris.
In their monthly survey of national trends related to the American political environment, McLaughlin & Associates seeks insight to voters’ outlook on and opinion related to a number of current topics. The January 2022 survey was conducted from Jan. 13 to Jan. 18 and polled 1,000 likely general election voters.
