Trump: 'Mark Brnovich is such a disappointment to me'

Last week, former President Donald Trump made one of his most important primary endorsements yet by choosing Blake Masters for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona.

But just as important as his endorsement of Masters is his simultaneous anti-endorsement of the former frontrunner in the race, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

In one of his most comprehensive endorsement statements yet, Trump listed the many reasons why Masters is by far the best candidate, including his strong stance on immigration, his “tough on crime” approach and his pledge to “fight for our totally under-siege Second Amendment.”

But the former president also devoted a significant portion of his statement to making it clear that there is one candidate who absolutely does not deserve the support of Arizona’s voters.

Describing Brnovich as “such a disappointment to me,” Trump points out that while Brnovich “understands what took place in the 2020 presidential election,” he ultimately “did nothing about it” despite holding one of the most powerful offices in the state.

During the crucial audit of the 2020 elections by the Arizona state Senate, Maricopa County infamously “refused to comply with a lawful Arizona Senate subpoena,” and yet Brnovich “failed to use his authority to compel the county to turn the information over.” It’s no secret that Brnovich has been lackluster on the crucial issue of election integrity, previously insisting that there was no proof of voter fraud in Arizona two years ago, and certifying the suspicious results of that election.

Once he began running for higher office, he changed his tone dramatically in order to appeal to Trump supporters ahead of the primary. Despite never using the power of his office to actually do anything about election integrity, Brnovich used his statewide name recognition to maintain a consistent lead in the polls, which only began to fade in March of this year, when Masters began rising into first.

With Trump’s endorsement, Masters’ momentum is expected to continue all the way to victory on Aug. 2.
