Senate President Warren Petersen has brought forward allegations of plagiarism against Dr. Daniel Shumer, a key witness in the federal court case challenging Arizona's Save Women's Sports Act. A motion filed with the court claims that Dr. Shumer copied significant portions of his work and testimony, potentially undermining the plaintiffs' position.

President Petersen is urging the court to exclude Dr. Shumer's testimony due to these findings, which were discovered during a deposition last month. He stated, "This revelation within the just-filed motion shows yet again that the radical left will stop at nothing to implement its fundamentally dangerous agenda around our country." He further emphasized, "Plagiarism raises serious questions about the reliability of a person's work."

Dr. Shumer is accused of plagiarizing his expert report on at least 22 occasions in relation to Arizona's Save Women's Sports Act and allegedly copied material without attribution in cases from Alabama and West Virginia as well.

Petersen expressed his commitment to defending Arizona's law, saying, "Over the past two years, I have led the charge to defend Arizona's commonsense law that protects women in sports." He also mentioned being invited by President Donald J. Trump for an executive order signing related to banning boys from competing on women's sports teams.
