Former President Donald Trump (R) launched a “Swamp the Vote” campaign earlier this month, asking voters to vote early, absentee, by mail, or in person on Election Day.
“Republicans must win and we must use every available appropriate tool to beat the Democrats,” said Trump said in a video announcing the “Swamp the Vote” effort. “Whether you vote early, absentee, by mail or in person, we must swamp the radical Democrats with massive turnout.”
Trump is facing President Joe Biden (D) in a rematch of the 2020 election in which neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote in Arizona. Biden received 49.36% of the vote to Trump's 49.06%.
That close margin makes the Grand Canyon State a battleground state in 2024. Trump leads Biden by four points among Arizona voters, according to a recent poll released by the League of American Voters.
When it comes to early voting, more than half of Arizona's Democrat registered voters are on the state's Active Early Voter List (AEVL), compared with just 46 percent of Republicans, reported the Grand Canyon Times.
Of the state's 2.104 million registered Democrats, 1.059 million of them-- or 50.1 percent-- are on the AEVL list, which means they are automatically sent a ballot-by-mail for all elections in which they are eligible to vote.
Arizona has 2.316 million registered Republicans, and 1.068 million of them-- 46.1 percent-- have signed up for the list.
All told, 33 percent of state of Arizona voters are Republican, 30 percent are Democrat, 29 percent have no designated party, five percent are independent and one percent libertarian.
To be eligible for the AEVL, a voter must have an Arizona mailing address.
Arizona county election authorities mail ballots to voters on the AEVL 27 days prior to every election.
