The westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) on-ramp at Val Vista Drive in the Southeast Valley will close for approximately 60 days starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 14. This closure is necessary for crews to reconstruct the ramp as part of a larger project aimed at widening Loop 202 in Chandler and Gilbert.

During this period, drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the westbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Santan Village Parkway or Lindsay Road.

The $200 million Loop 202 Improvement Project includes adding lanes and making interchange improvements along an eight-mile stretch between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Val Vista Drive. The project was recently discussed in an episode of the "On the Road with ADOT" podcast, which can be accessed through azdot.gov/podcast or platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Funding for this project comes partly from Proposition 400, a half-cent sales tax approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004. The project falls under the Regional Transportation Plan managed by the Maricopa Association of Governments, which serves as the metropolitan planning organization for Greater Phoenix.
